Five Easy Pieces (1970) Dir: Bob Rafelson / by Michael T Vollmann

This movie structure is one that I find worth studying for my first feature. More than the structure, the main character himself and the internal struggle he's fighing. He is a man, drifter, loner, caught between his family upbringing and his present circumstances/ His elite family and his working-class pregnant girlfriend. She represents pure innocence, and needy effervescent puppy-love. He is cynical neither identifying with his upper class background, as he finds them pretentious and void of the pureness and grit he finds himself attracted to in his girlfriend. But she is too simple for his cynical nature.
